Falling Feathers Chapter 24
Chapter Twenty-Four: Innocent Death
Helena grinned and laughed as she knocked a weapon from a Legion member's hands and twirled her red blade between her fingers.
"Too slow!" she chuckled kicking his legs out from under him and smashing him over the head with the flat surface of her sword. Her young attacker, looking to be only about fifteen or so, was knocked unconscious and Helena quickly grabbed him by the feet and dragged him to the side of the alley where four others were lined up, also knocked out.
"Why are there so many of us," Karsh groaned looking above his head to see a few other meisters and weapons sprint by either chasing or running from Legion.
"Come on!" Helena said running on but Karsh grabbed her by the arm.
"Go home!" he shouted, "That's five out of hundreds! You and the baby are going to get hurt!"
Helena pouted but knew he was right so threw her hood up and began to walk back, still cautious and glancing around corners as Karsh stood motionless

Chapter Twenty-Three: Return
"Stay here," Karsh said sliding out the front door and onto the stone steps above the streets.
"I'm coming too," Helena said carefully stepping out behind him and shutting the door.
Karsh turned around and pushed her back inside, "No, no, no. You stay here."
"I'm not letting you go out in the streets on your own with Legion the way it is," she said walking right back out.
"I don't need you, Crovix went to get Lord Death, Sterling and Kris went to get Maka and Soul, and I'm going to get Black*Star and his children. Just stay."
"No, we're a team right?"
"We're a team, but the baby is not part of the team. I don't need you to protect me, I need you to protect the baby."
"Don't worry! I will," she grinned following him down the stairs.
"You're going to get hurt and I won't let that happen!" Karsh scowled pushing her away.
"You just can't trust me with anything, can you?!"
"No! No, I can't because you're so sporadic!"
Helena waited at the to

Chapter Twenty-Two: Beginnings of War
Crovix nodded and smiled as Sterling bit his tongue and tried again to play the tabbed solo of a song she was trying to teach him on the guitar. She laughed as he plucked the wrong note and hung his head comically. His hands hung off the body of the guitar in a defeated fashion and he looked up at her with a hopeless smile.
"No, no, it's fine, just try again," she assured pointing to different places on the guitar to indicate what to play.
Sterling tried again and plucked the first four notes correctly before his fingers became twisted and he lost his place. He stared at the strings for a moment as if carefully examining where to go from there but gave up and looked to her for guidance.
"Try again," she repeated patting him on the shoulder, "On the B string nine, eleven three times, then eleven on the G string, then go back to B and play nine and eleven three more times, then nine then eleven."
"You keep telling me this is easy

Chapter Twenty-One: Death and New Life
Karsh buried his face in his hands and held the heel of one hand over his eye to keep from crying, the last thing he ever wanted to do. A cold shiver ran up and down his spin as he sat silently a few feet from Crovix, who was sitting with her legs pulled up to her chest and her chin resting on her knees, and staring intently at Hace's makeshift gravestone in the middle of the abandon field a few miles from the city. Karsh watched her for a moment, she was very distant and unresponsive but then again it seemed everyone was.
Kris had followed them out the day before and stayed for Hace's pathetic burial but Sterling had convinced her that there was nothing that could be done from that point on and sent her back home. He'd promised that he'd come get her when they moved again and he did intend to stand by that.
Sterling had not once come to look at Hace's makeshift grave in the two days that they had stayed by it and no one blame
